Making Waves: Asian & Pacific Islander Graduation

Making Waves: Asian & Pacific Islander (API) Graduation is held at the end of the academic school year to honor our graduating undergraduate and graduate students. This celebration is a great opportunity to acknowledge your academic achievements, honor your families, communities, and other significant people in your lives, and to celebrate the Asian and Pacific Islander cultural influences that have contributed to your academic success. The celebrations are open to all students graduating who would like to sign up and participate. You deserve to celebrate your achievements with cultural influences that are integral to your being and important to you and your community!

Location: Provident Credit Event Center, San José State University

This graduation celebration is separate from the official 91ÁÔÆæ Commencement. We encourage you attend both Making Waves and the official 91ÁÔÆæ Commencement. More information can be found on the .

• Who is eligible to participate?

  • 91ÁÔÆæ students who have graduated in Fall 2024 and 91ÁÔÆæ students who will be graduating in Spring 2025, Summer 2025, and Fall 2025 can participate in Spring 2025's Making Waves: API Graduation.
    
    If you participated in our Spring 2024 Making Waves: API Graduation, we ask that you refrain from registering.

• How can I register to participate?

  • Please register by completing the form for . Make sure that you complete the form by clicking the "Submit" button. You should receive a email copy of the form if it has been submitted correctly.

• When is the deadline to register to participate?

  • The priority deadline for participation in 2025 Making Waves: API Graduation is Wednesday, April 16th, 2025.

    We encourage graduates to register as soon as possible because to ensure you are able to receive a stole. (We may have a limited amount of stoles depending on our capacity.)

• What do I receive as a graduate if I register and participate?

  • Graduating 91ÁÔÆæ students who register for and attend Making Waves: API Graduation will receive a celebration where they will be recognized on stage and an API Graduation stole to recognize their accomplishments. Graduates must attend in-person to receive a stole.

• How many guests can I bring?

  • Each participating graduate will be limited to 10 guests for Spring 2025's Making Waves: API Graduation.
    
    More information regarding guest ticketing will be directly provided to registered graduates via email.

• What is the attire/dress code for graduating students?

  • There is no dress code for the event, but as it is a graduation celebration, we encourage you to enjoy and celebrate in the ways you would like.
    
    You are not required you to wear your cap and gown for this event. We strongly encouage you to wear cultural clothing if that feels celebratory for you.

• I am graduating in the Fall. How can I participate or receive a stole?

  • Unfortunately, we do not host Making Waves: API Graduation during the Fall or provide stoles to graduates outside of the event at this time. Fall graduates are encouraged to participate in the spring when we host the event if they would like to receive a stole.
