Refining Course Materials: A UDL Experience

Refining Course Materials: A UDL Experience is an asynchronous, module-based course in Canvas. The course begins on June 27, 2022 and requires completion of six brief, practical modules by July 27, 2022 in order to earn a certificate, badge, and $500 stipend. All faculty are welcome to apply; applications are due June 12, 2022.

  • The course begins during the week of June 27 concludes on July 27

• What topics will the course cover?

  • There are three main topics in the course: Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and its relationship to equity, inclusion, and belonging; considerations and practical strategies for content, course, and media design for accessibility; and use of Ally to assess and improve the accessibility of instructional materials. 

• What types of activities are part of the course?

  • Each module will have a culminating activity that will be directly applicable for your fall 2022 course.

• What time commitment does this involve?

  • In total, participants should expect to spend 5-7 hours engaging with module content (an average of one hour per module).

• Is there funding associated with this course?

  • Yes, by completing the program you are eligible to receive a stipend of $500. The stipend will be paid within 30 days of completion.

• I would like a copy of my certificate for my dossier. When will I receive it?

  • Approximately two weeks after completing the course, you can expect to receive an email with your certificate attached.

• Are there additional training opportunities available?

  • Yes, there are multiple opportunities available during the semester.
