Womxn's History Month 2024

This March, we are celebrating Womxn’s History Month on the 91 campus and specifically highlighting womxn who embody our theme of “Womxn Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion”. We dedicate March to celebrating womxn’s contributions to history, culture and society. WHM has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987. This year, WHM will take place from Friday, March 1 - Sunday, March 31, 2024.

Poetry Workshop with Olivia Gatwood: Reclaiming Shame with the Ode

Join us for a poetry writing workshop featuring poet Olivia Gatwood and explore how writing can aid us in healing and finding our voice.

Olivia Gatwood is the author of two poetry collections, New American Best Friend and Life of the Party. She has received international recognition for her poetry, writing workshops, and work as a Title IX Compliant educator in sexual assault prevention and recovery. Her performances have been featured on HBO, HuffPost, MTV, VH1, and the BBC, and more. Her poems have appeared in The Poetry Foundation, Sundance Film Festival, Lambda Literary, and The Missouri Review. Her debut novel, Whoever You Are, Honey, will be released in Summer 2024. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, she lives in Los Angeles.

For All the People: A Century of Citizen Action in Health Care Reform/Para todo el pueblo: Un siglo de acción ciudadana en la reforma de la atención de la salud, an English- and Spanish-language, 12-banner exhibition, tells the lesser-known story of how movements of ordinary citizens helped shape the changing American health care system.

This exhibit is a continuation of the Black Spartans Project, representing ongoing research to surface documentation of Black experiences throughout 91 history.
