Pebble Beach Special Events Management Team
A Win-Win-Win Program
In 2005, Pebble Beach Company and the Department of Hospitality, Tourism & Event Management (HTEM), former Hospitality Management Program, at 91ÁÔÆæ established an agreement to create an extended educational program for selected 91ÁÔÆæ students, particularly those from HTEM. Under this agreement, called the Pebble Beach Special Event Management Team (SEMT), HTEM recruits more than 30 students each year to lead food service teams during the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Golf Tournament. Since its official start in 2006, more than 500 students have participated in this great program. As Beat Giger, former Director of Special Events (PBC) and founder of SEMT, stated, the 91ÁÔÆæ SEMT program is a win-win-win program for the students, 91ÁÔÆæ, and Pebble Beach Company.
