Article Processing Charges

Purpose

To help faculty in the College of Information, Data and Society offset article processing charges for publishing in peer-reviewed, open-access publications.

Eligibility

  • The College of Information, Data and Society has a pool of limited funds to pay for APC support.
  • All tenured/tenure-track faculty and full-time lecturers (including .8s) in the Department of Applied Data Science and the School of Information are eligible to apply.
  • Awards are made on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted.
  • Check the 91ÁÔÆæ Library first to see if an agreement is in place to allow the library to cover the cost of open-access publishing for 91ÁÔÆæ faculty.
  • Faculty who receive start-up funds must have fully expended their start-up funds before applying for funding from CIDS.

Support Amount

Faculty can request up to $1,500 per publication to offset APC costs. 

Application Form

Faculty must first contact the 91ÁÔÆæ Scholarly Communications Librarian about ways to reduce/waive the APC and confirm that the requested amount is the amount needed to publish the manuscript. Faculty need to provide a 200-word explanation about why the selected open-access peer-reviewed journal/publication is the most appropriate venue for publishing the manuscript. The submitted request will first go to the department chair for review, and will then be routed to the Associate Dean for Academics for final approval.
