These will be 1-2 pages in length and there will be a total of 5 throughout the semester. For each Reading Analysisyou will select which chapter you want to do a review on up until that point. Essay #1: This essay (about yourself/reflective) will be 2-3-pages in length, on the experience that you have experienced a situation in regards to Race, Class, Gender, Inequality, and the Law and how it impacted you. What happened, how did you respond, how systemically is this unfair, and what was the result. Essay #2: This essay (observational/interview essay) will be 3-5-pages in length, on the experience that the student has during an observation or an interview with someone who has experienced a situation on Race, Class, Gender, Inequality, and the Law and how it impacted them. You can interview multiple people if you choose and select the issue you are most passionate about. You will then describe historical, social, political, and economic processes producing diversity, equality, and structured inequalities in the U.S. You will build on this for your FINAL paper and do research and propose solutions on how to create more opportunity for equality for all. Essay #3(FINAL PAPER): This essay will be a research paper 8 to 12 pages in length and will require the student to build on the topic from Essay #2. Topic should be approved by the instructor after essay#2 has been completed to ensure that it will be appropriate for a research papersee course schedule for due date. The focus of this essay will be investigative in nature, and encompass theory, data, and policy. Six scholarly references will be required for this assignment and paper must be in APA format. You will incorporate one of the theories learned in class to your paper. You will also focus on solutions which include policy changes. Final Exam: The final exam will be a combination of True/False and multiple choice items and will have a point value of 100 (i.e., 20% of the final course grade). There also may be short essay responses required in the exam.
