Current Research Activities
Dr. Juan Peña completed his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of New Mexico. Prior to joining 91ÁÔÆæ, he completed a post-doctoral research fellowship in substance use disorders treatment and services research through NIDA at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Peña’s research focuses on the social determinants of health that contribute to physical and mental health disparities among populations most underrepresented in research, with a focus on Hispanic or Latino/a/x people and immigrant communities. Another area of his research focuses on community engaged research approaches (e.g., CBPR) to improve health and social equity.
