Bio
The first theme of Dr. Chong’s research program aims to understand biopsychosocial contributors linking early life stress and differential susceptibility to socioemotional and health problems, while informing and optimizing interventions. Her work focuses on (1) identifying biopsychosocial factors that shape risk and resilience to socioemotional and health outcomes following exposure to significant life adversity, (2) clarifying within- and between-group differences in psychophysiological stress response, and (3) translating knowledge about biopsychosocial mechanisms into targeted intervention efforts.
To this end, Dr. Chong uses multisystem and multimethod approaches to address these
aims, including assessment of multiple biological systems (variation in autonomic,
neuroendocrine, and inflammatory functioning), behavioral observations, and self-report
measures of early life stress and outcomes.
A second theme of Dr. Chong's research focuses on professional issues in health service psychology training.
