Bio
Thomas Altura is an associate professor in the School of Management at San José State University. He received his Ph.D. and M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, and holds a B.A. in Anthropology, also from UCLA. Tom’s research focuses on organization theory and institutional change and has been published in leading academic journals, including Business & Society, Social Science Japan Journal, Management Decision, and Journal of Career Development. His research is highly multidisciplinary and employs both quantitative and qualitative methods. Tom teaches in the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business’s undergraduate and M.B.A. programs; the College of Education's Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.); and the College of Engineering’s M.S. Engineering, Specialization in Business Leadership program. His courses include Organization Theory; Organizational Behavior and Change in Education; Developing and Managing People; Fundamentals of Management and Organizational Behavior; and Managing Organizational Change. The recipient of numerous awards, Tom was recognized with the prestigious Distinguished Teaching Award, the College of Business’s highest teaching honor.
