Budgets
The San José State University Research Foundation (91ÁÔÆæRF) Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is responsible for budget submissions for externally funded projects and will work with you to create your formal Budget and Budget Justification for grant proposals–starting ideally a month ahead of the submission date.
Research Development, however, can help you think about your budget needs and how that affects the research scope and plan–starting ideally several months ahead of the submission date.
As soon as you know you will submit a specific proposal:
- Contact OSP to let them know of your due date so they can be sure the submission process goes
as smoothly as possible. They will also plan a date to work with on your submission
timeline, including budgets, roughly 30 days prior to submission.
- Be sure you are working with a Research Development (RD) Specialist so that your proposal is as competitive as possible the first time it is submitted. An RD Specialist will help with strategic planning and review of the proposal, including how the allowable budget amount will affect the research you can propose.
