Katie Koho (pronouns: they/them/theirs). Katie grew up in Mount Shasta, California at the base of a dormant volcano but they prefer to call the Bay Area their home, having lived there for 10+ years. Katie attended San Francisco State University for their Bachelor’s degree as well as their Master’s degree. Katie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Education, concentration in Adult Education from the Equity, Leadership Studies and Instructional Technologies department at SF State.

In their undergraduate career, Katie was a Resident Assistant for two years and that’s where they built a whole community of people they call their chosen family, including a mentor who encouraged Katie to go into the field of higher education and student affairs. While getting their Master’s degree, Katie worked in Residential Life at SF State guiding students with their academics, supporting the Rainbow (LGBTQ+) living learning community, and acting as a conduct case manager. Katie loves working with first generation college students, being one themself, who pave the way for future generations. While most of Katie’s work has been supporting college students, they were a high school teacher for a public charter school teaching college readiness and life after high school during the pandemic and most recently worked in technology on the global Diversity Recruiting team at Oracle. While working in technology, Katie missed connecting with students and supporting them in their educational journeys, which led them to 91ÁÔÆæ taking on a position as a Senior Academic Advisor in the Humanities and Arts Student Success Center.

In their spare time, Katie enjoys playing with their pug, Otis, watching anime (Fruits Basket is their favorite) and RuPaul’s Drag Race (Marina Summers from the Philippines franchise is their favorite drag artist), spending time with their wife and chosen family, helping their friends with their resumes, playing Sims, trying new restaurants, and being around nature. Katie is excited to work with upper division students and help them navigate their graduation requirements and life after!
