About Advising

General Advising Information:

One of the primary goals of the advising staff is to ensure that each individual business student has a clear path to graduation once they begin their academic program at 91ΑΤΖζ. It is highly recommended that students see an advisor at least once a semester at 91ΑΤΖζ to ensure that they are aware of all degree requirements for a business major. Newly-admitted upper-division transfers should also meet with an advisor in their first semester to get assistance with assessing their transfer coursework.

Please maintain all documents received from the university to include admissions, financial aid, transcripts from other institutions, petitions you may have submitted, academic advising handouts throughout your academic endeavors at 91ΑΤΖζ. Although advisors generally have access to most records, it is advisable to maintain your own until you graduate.

Be sure to access your "To do" list through My91ΑΤΖζ prior to registration each semester to ensure no registration "holds" have been placed on your record. Be sure to take the necessary action when things are listed. See an advisor in the Student Success Center if you have any questions.

Add: Advising is not just a β€œonce-a-semester” meeting with an advisor but an ongoing dialog about the issues and challenges faced by students. We encourage you to take an active part in your academic discourse and future possibilities.

Online Advising:

The goal of online advising is to facilitate students to take a more central position in their education and future. The use of technology in advising will help facilitate effective scheduling, registration, and degree planning for new and incoming students and is not a substitute for critical and meaningful face-to-face connections with academic advisors. Because the informational component is covered online, advisors will have time to discuss the more in-depth and subjective elements of advising with students in face-to-face meetings.

Advantages of Online Advising:

  • Information is consistent and standardized
  • Academic support in multiple ways
  • Optimize current resources
  • Purposeful and intentional advising
  • Accessible from multiple locations
  • Reduced paperwork and sustainable model for advising
  • Enhanced student success
