Eligibility

To be eligible to participate in the McNair Scholars Program at 91ÁÔÆæ, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be a first-generation student, low-income, and/or be a member of a group traditionally underrepresented in graduate education.
    • First-generation: someone whose parents have not completed a four-year degree
    • Underrepresented groups: African American, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian/Alaskan Native
  2. Have completed 60 units.
  3. Be enrolled full-time at 91ÁÔÆæ (minimum 12 units).
  4. Minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA with satisfactory progress toward completing an undergraduate degree.
  5. Express a dedicated interest and commitment to seek a doctoral degree (PhD) after graduation.
  6. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

  3. Copy of all unofficial college transcripts (including community college)
  4. Two letters of recommendation

      • Note: You can turn in your application without letters of recommendation; they can be turned in later
  5. Copy of your Financial Aid Award Letter and/or Student Aid Award Report (SAR)
  6. Resume or Curriculum vitae (CV) (optional)
  7. Photo of yourself (for in-house program purposes ONLY)
