Mission Statement

The PRIDE Center is a community space for the LGBTQ+ students of San José State University. Through dynamic programming and educational outreach the PRIDE Center seeks to improve the campus climate for LGBTQ+ students and advocate for the respect and safety of all members of the campus community. In collaboration with other campus programs and community services the center works to meet the needs of students to promote the successful completion of their educational goals.

Bonnie Sugiyama is the Director of the San José State University PRIDE Center and Gender Equity Center.

We sponsor educational and community building programs. Our library has an extensive collection of books concerning LGBTQ+ issues. The center can be used for club meetings, studying, and hanging out. The center networks with campus and San José area organizations in order to build a stronger community and support system for the LGBTQ+ students of San José State University.

Location and Directions

The PRIDE Center is located in the Main (center) section of the Student Union on the 1st Level around the glass staircase atrium.
