With our Master of Science, Nursing, Concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), you have the opportunity to continue your full-time nursing career while achieving one of the highest degrees in professional nursing. 40 units and five semesters to complete this degree.

The FNP program offered by The Valley Foundation School of Nursing at 91ÁÔÆæ focuses on advancing your clinical skills and using a theoretical and scientific basis for diagnosing and treating your patients. These skills can also be used for preventive services.

Upon completion of the FNP degree, you will be able to provide primary and preventative care.

As a student, you have the chance to interact with faculty who are also practitioners providing care to patients through the three-semester preceptorship.

According to the Bureau of Labor Service, Nurse Anesthetists, Nurse Midwives, and Nurse Practitioners' careers are growing at an unbelievable 40% which is much higher than other occupations. Approximately 30,200 jobs will be added each year over the next decade.

AANP exam

The San José State Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) degree meets the criteria specified in Section 1484, Title XVI of the California Administrative Code and is fully approved by the California BRN. Graduates are eligible to seek national certification by taking either the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) FNP exam or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) exam.

    • Be a registered nurse (RN), licensed to practice in California with a Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) or; an RN with a Bachelor’s degree in another field.
    • One year of RN clinical nursing experience following RN licensure.
    • No GRE required

    Nursing Specialty Adv. Certificate

    Add to your nursing credentials and further the care you offer with the Nursing Specialty Advanced Certificate program. A minimum of two courses in wound, ostomy, and/or foot and nail can be taken within one and half years (may skip one semester) and are required to receive this certificate.
