Field Education
Field Education is an integral component of the MSW curriculum and is 91ÁÔÆæ School of Social Work's signature pedagogy. Field Education seeks to validate, apply and integrate the knowledge, theories and concepts of social work practice. The MSW On Campus, MSW Online Hybrid, and BASW programs prepare our social work students for critical inquiry beyond the generalist level to improve, design, and develop solutions to advance effective social work in all areas of practice and communities.
This is demonstrated through Field Education and the integration of cognitive learning; intuitive skills and knowledge; professional values; experiential activities and application through the Transcultural Perspective (TCP).
Field Education requires students to concurrently take Seminar Practice courses and intern at an approved agency throughout the state of California. These field placements are approved on the basis of the quality of their professional practice, their commitment to addressing social problems, their interest in participating in professional education, and their ability to make personnel and material resources available.
Field Education is an opportunity for our 91ÁÔÆæ students to grow, flourish and enhance their current strengths in the Social Work profession.
