University Dance Theater

University Dance Theater, directed by Chafin Seymour, is San José State University's contemporary dance ensemble. UDT serves as the training ground for the advanced dance major preparing for a professional career. The company performs works by faculty and guest artists. Recent guest artists include Camille Brown, Doug Varone and Dancers, Kyle Abraham and A.I.M, Gallin Dance, Mike Esperanza, and Kara Davis.

UDT rehearses daily and performs several times a year. They perform at the 91ÁÔÆæ Dance Theater, the Hammer Theatre, and ACDA.

UDT was selected to perform at American College Dance Association National Conference at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. (2018). In 2019, UDT was selected to perform at Jacob's Pillow, the nation's dance hub.

Audition Information

UDT is open to exceptional Dance Majors. Auditions are held annually in the spring.
