THE THANKSVIVING PLAY

Illustration of a Turkey in Thanksgiving garb in a class room, standing behind an extreme close up of a serving fork piercing a lone feather on a serving tray.

Directed by Theatre Arts Lecturer Jeffrey Lo
Written by Larissa Fasthorse

Performed in the Hal Todd Theatre:

  • October: 10, 11, 12 at 7:30 pm
  • October 11 at 1:00 pm

(The play runs 90 minutes with no intermission)

The Thanksgiving Play by MacArthur genius grant recipient, Larissa Fasthorse (Sicangu Lakota) shows when good intentions collide with absurd assumptions.

In this wickedly funny satire, a troupe of terminally woke teaching artists are tasked with devising an elementary school pageant that somehow manages to celebrate both Turkey Day and Native American Heritage Month. The Thanksgiving Play puts our traditional American origin story in the comedy-crosshairs with hilarious and uncomfortable results.

Willkommen. Bienvenue. Welcome to the Kit Kat Club. Home to an intimate and electrifying new production of CABARET. Experience this groundbreaking musical like never before.

The denizens of the Kit Kat Club have created a decadent sanctuary inside San José's Hammer Theatre, where artists and performers, misfits and outsiders rule the night. Step inside their world. This is Berlin. Relax. Loosen up. Be yourself.
