The Temple Prize
Awarded to a junior who has written an excellent philosophy paper.
The Herman Shapiro Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Herman Shapiro Memorial Scholarship Fund was created by Mrs. Charlott Shapiro. The award is made each year to a student who is a declared philosophy major who has achieved junior, senior or graduate standing, with a GPA of at least 3.0 at the time they are considered for the scholarship.
The Lydia A. and George V. Pinto Scholarship
In the Spring of 1992, George Pinto, a philosophy M.A. graduate, established The Lydia A. and George V. Pinto Scholarship in the name of his parents. This is awarded to a student who has demonstrated a love for philosophy, involvement in the community, and a commitment to social justice
The Manor Award
In memory of Ruth Manor, this is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student who has demonstrated special proficiency in logic.
The Arthur Ordaz Award
The Arthur Ordaz Award is given to philosophy majors and/or M. A. students to provide funds for the purchase of philosophy books and philosophy research materials.
The Dr. Richard Tieszen Memorial Scholarship
This award is given to an undergraduate philosophy student with a demonstrated interest
in logic, philosophy of mathematics, philosophy of mind, or phenomenology.
The Dick Schubert Memorial Philosophical Virtues Award
The philosophical virtues award celebrates students that display the virtues of intellectual courage, integrity, persistence, discipline, open-mindedness, helpfulness, and intellectual compassion and care. These virtues are measured independently of grades.
The Lucius R. Eastman Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Created by Alan E. Kazdin, a graduate of 91ÁÔÆæ, to honor the memory of Dr. Lucius R. Eastman, this scholarship supports an incoming M.A. student with an award of approximately one semester's tuition. Recipients will be selected based on the quality and persuasiveness of (1) their personal statement and (2) the writing sample submitted as part of the application to the M.A. program
