USC 91ÁÔÆæ Consortium ICCAE Scholarship

$2,000 - $3,000 awarded annually 

The purpose of the USC-91ÁÔÆæ Consortium for the Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence (USC-91ÁÔÆæ Consortium ICCAE) is to develop a new generation of diverse, technically-trained professionals for the intelligence and national security communities, in collaboration with the University of Southern California, San Jose State University, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, and Santa Monica College. This program is part of a nationwide network of Intelligence Community Centers for Academic Excellence (ICCAE), funded by the Office for the Director of National Intelligence.

All applicants will be eligible to be ICCAE students and receive the following benefits:

• Access to all USC-91ÁÔÆæ professional development workshops
• Networking opportunities with National Security and Intelligence Community Professionals
• Nominations for ICCAE internships
• Participation in the Annual Colloquium (Intellithon)

Applicants who are selected for scholarships are known as ICCAE scholars. An ICCAE scholar is a U.S. citizen and current student at an active or legacy ICCAE institution, who is enrolled in or has completed at least one course related to the core study areas (i.e. intelligence and/or National/International Security, Cybersecurity/Stem, and/or language studies). In addition, an ICCAE scholar participates in at least two ICCAE-focused activities, each semester. ICCAE focused activities may include: recruitment events, National Security Conferences, Study Abroad Programs, workshops, simulations, research activities, speakers series, internships/fellowships, or the Principal Investigator assigned projects. ICCAE scholars are eligible to compete for scholarships and research assistantships.

ICCAE scholars will be eligible to receive a certificate of study when this program gets established. 

Graduate scholars will receive $3000 and undergraduate scholars will receive $2000. They will be assigned faculty mentors.

My name is Maryam Idris, and I am a Biochemistry major and Political Science minor at 91ÁÔÆæ. I love reading and learning about all things! When I am not in school, I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, and weight-lifting.

I serve as a Staff Analyst at Valley Water, supporting the Office of Communications and the Office of Civic Engagement under External Affairs. As an analyst, I provide administrative and project management support to ensure the completion of divisional objectives while building communication across different teams. Before my current role, I served as the Assistant Director for the Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) Initiatives at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC). In this capacity, I supported the implementation, evaluation, and management of two Department of Education grants.

I received my undergraduate degree in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. In addition, I completed a Master of Information Systems with a Graduate Business Analytics Certificate from the University of Phoenix. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Public Administration from San Jose State University.
