Award Guidelines
Austen D. Warburton Award of Merit
Endowed by Austen D. Warburton, this award recognizes a faculty member within the College of Social Sciences who has achieved the highest level of scholarship, as demonstrated by an outstanding record of publications and the delivery of scholarly papers before prestigious professional organizations. The person's achievements should be worthy of international or national recognition, with significant impact upon a field of scholarship in the social sciences.
Teaching Excellence Awards
The College of Social Sciences will present two awards for teaching excellence—one to a tenured/tenure-track faculty and one to a lecturer faculty member. Awardees will have demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels in the opinion of their peers and students. These faculty members have contributed to teaching beyond their individual classes to have an impact on students, colleagues, or their professions, resulting from years of service in a career.
Meritorious Service Award
This award recognize distinguished service on Department, College and University elected bodies and/or effective leadership in advancing the interests of faculty in the College of Social Sciences, in particular, and the University, in general.
Staff Excellence Service Award
The purpose of this award is to recognize College of Social Sciences staff member who exemplifies the highest tradition of service. This distinguished service can be demonstrated through a particularly outstanding service accomplishment or a record of sustained and excellent service to students, faculty and staff members, departments, the College, University, or community.
Outstanding Alumnus Award
The purpose of this award is to encourage alumni to remain connected with the College of Social Sciences and to recognize those making an important contribution to the College.
Changing the World Together:
Social Entrepreneurship and Community Engagement Alumnus Award
The purpose is to recognize alumni who have contributed to the core mission of the College of Social Sciences that states, “Our work leads to a more just, adaptable, and sustainable society which supports lives that are meaningful, creative, and productive.â€
