The Applied Data Science Department offers interdisciplinary programs, collaborates with Silicon Valley professionals, and specializes in data analytics, data engineering, data science, and cutting-edge generative AI models to meet growing demands for applying data science expertise to solve real-world data challenges.

Silicon Valley is renowned for its pioneering role in the AI economy and the surging need for skilled professionals driven by the rapid expansion of intelligent applications. The department maintains curriculum relevance by consulting top data professionals and companies. The department is an academic hub, in partnership with other 91ÁÔÆæ departments and industry partners, for promoting education and research in applied data science. In order to address the immense demands of data science professionals, the department launched an MS in Data Analytics program in August 2018. The MS in Data Analytics program provides students with the advanced education necessary to develop applied data science solutions. This includes processing and analyzing data from multiple sources, building data pipelines, extracting insights, and developing full-stack solutions. By leveraging data engineering, applied data science, and analytical skills, students learn to tackle practical problems comprehensively from start to finish.
