What We Do

Transportation Solutions (TS) helps alleviate automobile traffic to 91ÁÔÆæ and reduce the impact on the University’s parking facilities. TS is dedicated to serving the commute needs of students and employees at 91ÁÔÆæ. Its region-wide operation emphasizes sustainable alternatives to driving to campus.

VTA Service Update

The union representing Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), which operates the light rail and bus systems in Santa Clara County, has announced that they will go on strike on Monday, March 10th, 2025. This means VTA will not be running any transit services. We are unsure at this time how long the strike will last.

The impact of the strike will affect not only public transit users, but will likely impact parking at 91ÁÔÆæ.  Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to seek alternative means of transportation, including carpools. We also encourage those driving to campus to consider the south campus garage for parking.

For students taking regional public transportation, we recommend going to Diridon Station and walking or using a bicycle or scooter, or using a bicycle or scooter from Berryessa Station. BART riders can transfer to Caltrain at Millbrae Station, if coming from San Francisco, Oakland, or the northern East Bay. VTA has recommended riders use Lyft or Uber in place of VTA.

Funding

Transportation Solutions operates under the auxiliary organization Associated Students (AS). TS receives funding from the following sources:

  1. Part of the campus miscellaneous fees for Associated Students
  2. Annual grant ($95K) from UPD Parking Services’ Alternative Transportation Fund.
