Community Collaborations
Our Center partners with local and regional agencies on curricular and co-curricular initiatives that benefit the public good. These collaborative partnerships enrich the student experience and benefit community organizations.
Service learning courses are the primary way our Center collaborates with community organizations. Service learning provides students with opportunities to participate in organized service activities that meet community needs while linking the service experiences to the course content. Reflection and integration assignments are key aspects of these courses and make service learning a different experience than community service. Service may include direct service with clients, special projects, research, or other activities that are identified by the community partner to meet a real community need. Effective community partnerships involve planning and ongoing communication among 91ÁÔÆæ faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
Our Programs also collaborate with community organizations for curricular and co-curricular service. More information about our Programs may be found on the Programs Tab.
Community organizations are encouraged to:
- Consult with Center staff
- Participate in partner meetings
- Recruit at 91ÁÔÆæ organization fairs
- Recognize students, faculty, and community organizations through our annual awards
Our Centers hosts a Community Connections Fair twice a year during which non-profit and community organizations table on campus to share information about available volunteer, service-learning, and/or internship opportunities with students, faculty, and staff. Check out the latest !
