Transforming Social Justice Series: Yesika Salgado

Caesar Chavez Community Action Center & Gender Equity Center
Come meet Yesika Salgado, who is a Los Angeles based Salvadoran poet who writes about
her family, her culture, her city and her brown body. She is the Co-founder of the
Latina feminist collective Chingona Fire and an internationally recognized body positivity
activist. Yesika is the author of the amazon best seller Corazón and her newest collection
of poetry Tesoro, both published with Not A Cult.
Art Gallery: Gender and Body Positivity

The Gender Equity Center is proud to host an Art Gallery on Gender and Body Positivity.
We are featuring art created by 91ÁÔÆæ students. Please come to support fellow peers!
The gallery is open for viewing from 10 - 5 pm with an Artist Reception from 3 - 5
pm to chat with artists and a few live performances of poetry/spoken word.

Good Vibrations will give a workshop on Feminist Porn, the ways this relates to society's
views on sexuality and pleasure, and how we interact when it comes to sex, consent,

Dr. Bakhru will discuss the ways in which women's bodies have been constructed as
the "wrong" body and how women's embodied experiences and conditions become defined
as medical problems and require medical intervention and discipline. Lunch provided,
