Broadcast Meteorology Minor

The Minor in Broadcast Meteorology, offered by the Department of Meteorology and Climate Science in collaboration with the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, is designed to prepare students from both STEM- and non-STEM majors to solve interdisciplinary problems involving the meteorology, climate and atmospheric sciences. Students will learn to prepare and present a professional weathercast with emphasis on communication skills, computer graphics, and on-camera delivery. Broadcast meteorology combines passions in weather, communications, technology applications, and reporting. Students in the minor will build meteorological knowledge and communication skills, which are essential for broadcast meteorology.
