About Us

The San José Student Chapter of AMS is a recognized student organization at San José State University for anyone and everyone interested in or passionate about weather, meteorology, and climatology! We strive to develop our members both personally and professionally by educating students about the climatology fields, discussing career paths, networking with scientists and fellow spartans, helping students in their meteorology studies, and growing as a community.

John Robert Bagarino, Vice President

Hi! I am John Robert Bagarino, currently a senior pursuing a Bachelor's in Climate Science. Living in San Jose, I could not help but notice the impacts of the changing climate. Wildfire smoke, has in recent years posed an ever greater risk for my respiratory health. This has brought me to grapple with understanding the atmosphere, the climate system and fire behavior. In the future, I would like to research interactions between climatological processes and wildfires, or between smoke plumes and the atmosphere.

Lucas DelValle, Communications

Hello! My name is Lucas DelValle and I am a junior pursuing a Meteorology major. Being a Bay Area native and with the only dynamic weather coming in the winter, atmospheric rivers are among my favorite niches in this field. I also am a huge fan of snow. I hope to find myself researching severe weather in the form of atmospheric rivers or snowstorms.
