Course Components
The below information about single and multiple component focuses on scheduling classes. For more information, on course proposals review the Curriculum Course Classifications & Components page.
Single Component Courses
In My91ΑΤΖζ (PeopleSoft), scroll to the bottom of the basic data page and look for the Course Attribute Value. It should show ONE β this confirms that it is a single component. Courses with a single component and the Associated Class Number must match the section number (e.g. CCS 74 section 02 with Associated Class Number '2').
Multiple Component Courses
In My91ΑΤΖζ, scroll to the bottom of the basic data page and look for the Course Attribute Value. It should show either WILD or MAN β this confirms that it is a multiple component course.
To find what the individual components are click on the magnifying glass next to the Component box on the Basic Data Tab. The various components that must scheduled will be shown as a list. All components must be scheduled, and students must subsequently enroll into them. If they do not, they will receive an registration error.
If a student can choose any of the lectures, labs, etc. offered, the Associated Class Number should be β9999β (for Wild). (For example: BIOL 24 section 01 has an Associated Class Number of 1 with the Lab sections 02, 03 and 04 all having an Associated Class Number of 9999, allowing students to register in the LEC and ANY of the LABS).
If a student does not have a choice, the one component is grouped only to another component, then the Associated Class Number for the components must match (e.g. lecture component for CHEM 42 is section 01, has an Associated Class Number of 1. The lab component of CHEM 42 section 02 with Associated Class Number of 1 - linking section 01 and 02 together - allowing only one option to students).
The primary, graded component of a multiple component class should have the Class Type of βEnrollmentβ; all other components should have a Class Type of βNon-Enrollβ.
