Live In-person Help Desk
You can visit our office in the Engineering building on the 1st floor in ENG 116 for quick questions during most of our open business hours. Bring your student Tower ID card. Service is first-come, first-served. Find our office on the map of the College of Engineering building [pdf].
Our normal business days and hours, unless otherwise posted, are:
Monday through Friday
8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon
1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
(closed for lunch daily 12:00 - 1:00)
Drop-in Advising
Drop-in advising in person with professional advisors at the ESSC is available per our in-person drop-in calendar.

Drop-in advising is intended for quick questions (e.g. removing holds, explaining policies, course recommendation) during a 5-minute conversation. More in-depth advising requires an appointment.
Appointments
You can make appointments with an ESSC advisor or Career Counselor via . Appointments are virtual via Zoom or in-person at the ESSC office. Selecting your appointment topic will provide a list of available advisors and appointment slots.

- Change of Major
- GE checklists / advising
- Holds

- University Withdrawal
- Transfer Credit Equivalency
Advisors also handle less involved topics such as:
- Form Signatures
- Policy Clarification
- Check in Meeting
- Follow-up Meeting
- Registration questions

Outside of business hours or anytime, you can contact us at success-engineering@sjsu.edu for short clarification of policies already on our web site.
Always include your 91ÁÔÆæ student ID number and a brief description of your question or issue.

- are unsure about the length of your inquiry and whether an appointment is necessary
- need assistance scheduling an appointment
- have a Plan of Study to be reviewed

Incoming Students
Frosh: If you are aware of your orientation advisor, please contact him/her/them directly, through email or . This will yield the fastest, most direct response. You can identify your advisor in the Canvas course .
Transfer: Usually your major department will provide academic advising; some departments have major advising through the ESSC (see our Major Advising page).
