Research Assistant Support

Purpose

To advance faculty research in the College of Information, Data and Society by providing paid opportunities for students to engage in research activities that support faculty research. 

Eligibility

  • All tenured/tenure-track faculty and full-time lecturers (including .8s) in the College of Information, Data and Society are eligible for Research Assistant Support. Faculty who receive start-up funds are not eligible to apply until their start-up funds have been expended.
  • Recipients must submit a report documenting what they had the research assistant do, how they used the research assistants and how the research assistant helped them advance their research/scholarly writing/grant writing. 
  • Report deadlines: Fall reports due February 10th; Spring reports due June 10th; Summer reports due September 1st.

Support Amount

Faculty in the College of Information, Data and Society will be awarded research assistant support for up to 10 hours per week each semester. 

Selection Criteria

Priority goes to probationary tenure-track faculty.

  • Description of Research Assistant responsibilities (25%)
  • Criticality of Research Assistant services (25%)
  • Mentoring and monitoring Research Assistants (25%)
  • Impact on RSCA Productivity (25%)

Selection Committee

The College of Information, Data and Society Associate Dean for Academics and the Department Chairs comprise the selection committee. The committee will make recommendations to the Dean, who will make the final determination for the award.
