Graduation Checklist for Undergrads
Graduating Seniors:
Use this Graduation Checklist to graduate in a timely manner. If you have not applied yet, visit the Application Central page and see if you are eligible to apply for graduation.
If you have additional questions after reviewing the Graduation Checklist, please contact your Graduation Evaluator.
- 1. Check your Graduation Status

Your on MyProgress should be "needs to finish pending work". This status will not change until the degree is awarded.

- 2. Review Degree Requirements

Review your MyProgress report for outstanding requirements. This report outlines your completed and unmet degree requirements.
Review the following on MyProgress.

- GE Requirements
- PE Requirements- 2 units
- Unit counts

- residency (at least 30 at 91ÁÔÆæ)
- 120 units (max of 70 from community college(s))
- 50 units outside of community college coursework
- upper division (at least 40)

- 91ÁÔÆæ, All College, major and minor GPAs (at least 2.0)
- Major/ minor requirements
Contact for updates on substitutions.
SAGE Students: Review the bottom section of your MyProgress to ensure you have met SAGE requirements, e.g.,120 applicable units, additional course(s), etc.
Your degree will be awarded once all degree requirements are met (green circles).

- 3. Address Outstanding Requirements

The MyProgress report will be used to award your degree at the end of your graduation term. Therefore, after you have registered for your last courses, your MyProgress should show only pending and completed requirements (yellow diamonds & green circles).
Any outstanding requirement (red squares) will prevent you from graduating. Please contact your major/minor/success center advisor for assistance with fulfilling the remaining outstanding requirements.

- 4. Resolve All Grades (I, RD, RP) and Study Abroad Coursework (if applicable)

Any Incomplete (I), Report Delayed (RD), Report in Progress (RP), and Study Abroad grades must be cleared before your degree can be awarded. You must submit all work to clear the Incomplete or Report Delayed to the instructor by the established deadline. See .
Address any grade changes before the end of your graduation term. Once your degree is posted, no change of grades can be allowed.

- 5. Submit Transcripts from Other Institutions (if applicable)

If you have taken classes outside of 91ÁÔÆæ recently, please submit official transcripts to etranscript@sjsu.edu. Notify your graduation evaluator once you receive confirmation that your transcript has been received. Review your MyProgress to verify if all transfer coursework is up to date.

- 6. Complete Your Final Semester

Your degree will be awarded once all degree requirements are met (green circle). Your degree will be posted 4-6 weeks after the last day of the term. Visit this page frequently for timelines and updates.

- 7. Review your Diploma Name/ Address

You may use a name other than your on your diploma. Please follow by , otherwise, the Primary (legal) Name will be used. Note that the Diploma Name will be used exclusively for diplomas.
Update your in My91ÁÔÆæ by to ensure proper delivery. The University is not liable for diplomas lost due to incorrect addresses or corrected addresses provided by students after mailing.

- 8. Clear Any Holds on Your Account

Check My91ÁÔÆæ to see if you have any holds. Students with financial holds on their accounts will not receive their diplomas. Inform your graduation evaluator once you have cleared your holds.

- 9. Request to Change Your Graduation Term (if applicable)

If you do not expect to complete all requirements by the end of your graduation term, submit a graduation date change. You will not receive a registration appointment for the subsequent term until you submit a graduation date change form.
