Dean of the College of Information, Data, and Society Search
San Jose State University has launched a nationwide search for the new dean of the College of Information, Data, and Society. The executive search firm Isaacson, Miller has been retained to assist in the process and will collaborate closely with the appointed search committee.
Position Announcement
Reporting to the Provost, the Dean serves as the senior administrator and is the principal champion for vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the College of Data, Information and Society (IDS). The dean must work effectively with departments, faculty, staff, students, and other administrators to define, articulate, and implement the College’s mission and educational philosophy, assuring that they are responsive to the diversity of the University’s students and the State of California. The Dean is responsible for coordination of the College’s developing and implementing a diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence strategy for the college that is integrated across all areas of the college’s work in: strategic planning, student success, enrollment management, and academic program planning, assessment of curriculum and instruction assessment and development, recruitment and evaluation of faculty and staff recruitment and retention strategies, professional development, budgeting and management of funds, and the allocation and use of facilities. The Dean must also set out a vision and strategy for the future of information science, data analytics, and librarianship education as well as foster larger interdisciplinary efforts on campus for the future of the region and beyond, developing strategies to meet the rapidly changing educational needs of students and communities.
